Nexis contains local, national and international newspapers and news sources. Nexis is an additional package within Lexis+ UK.

Students: studentnumber@atu.ie and ATU Password
Staff: firstname.lastname@atu.ie and ATU Password
Search the entire collection: You can search all the newspapers at once using the search field on the homepage. Simply put in your keywords and press the blue magnifying glass to run the search e.g. EU tariffs and pharmaceuticals
Search by type of news source: Press ‘By Type’ below the search field on the homepage to limit your results by major world publications, magazines and journals, newsletters etc.
Search by Country or Region: If you only want to search for Irish Newspapers, press ‘By Region’ below the search field on the homepage. Then select ‘Europe’ and then select ‘Ireland’.
Search a specific newspaper: Following from above, limiting the newspapers to Ireland, you can select specific newspapers to search. Press the small circle beside ‘Select sources to search’ and this will allow you to tick the newspapers you want. Then put in your search terms into the search field and run the search.
Boolean/Phrase: Use and to find all terms, use “quotation marks” to find phrases, use OR to broaden the search to find alternative keywords e.g. pharmaceutical tariffs AND multi-national's OR international pharmaceutical firms
The filters appear down the left-hand side of the results page. Simply select a dropdown to filter further e.g. Subject, Geography, Case search
Limit to Geography: Using the panel on the left-hand side of the results page, use the dropdown to limit by a particular geographic location.
Limit to Year/Years: Using the panel on the left-hand side of the results page, use the dropdown to limit to a year/years by sliding the date slider or use the calendar to put in exact dates e.g. 1994
Limit to Source Name: Using the panel on the left-hand side of the results page, use the dropdown to limit to a particular newspaper.
View: Click on the title of the article to read it in full
This feature allows you create more complex searches with terms, phrases and subjects. Weather on the homepage or a particular newspaper, the Advanced Search is located below the blue magnifying glass in the search bar.
Enter your term(s): Put your search terms/keywords into the Terms fields, which are easily laid out on the page to help you find ‘All of the terms’, ‘Any of the terms’, ‘Exactly the phrase’, ‘Exclude the terms’. Once you type something into the field, press the ADD button. e.g. Camogie Association AND skirt or short or skort.
Once you press Add it goes into the search bar at the top of the page. When your terms are all added, press the blue magnifying glass to run the search.
