Inter Library Loans and Document Supply Overview

The process for submitting a request currently differs across our campuses. Please use the tabs below to find out how to request an Inter-Library Loan on your campus. 

How to Request an Inter-Library Loan

You can submit a request through the Submit a Document Request form on our website.

You can submit a request through  ATU Library Galway-Mayo Document Supply Request Form.

To submit a request, first login to your Library Record, then completing the following steps:

  1. Click on Your Inter-Library Loan requests
  2. Click on Create Request
  3. Read and agree to the Copyright Terms & Conditions before proceeding 
  4. Input relevant details
  5. Click Create to submit a request

Collection, Renewal and Returns

Collection

  • Currently, all InterLlibrary Loans are in hard copy format and can be collected from the Library Information Desk. You will be notified by email when requested items are available for collection.
  • Items can be posted to online learners if required. Please contact interlibraryloans.sligo@atu.ie to request this service.
  • Book requests can take a little longer to arrive as they must be posted from the lending library.

Renewals

It is important that all borrowed Inter-Library Loan items are returned by the given due date. Renewals may not be possible and are at the discretion of the lending library.

Returns

Inter-library loan books can only be checked in at the Library Information Desk. For articles and book chapters, you will receive a photocopy of the required pages, which you can keep.
