Using the Library's Search and Find Tool to find Theses and Dissertations

Searching in the Online Library for dissertations is easy. Simply enter the term 'dissertation' as a subject heading search along with your search terms as shown here in our Advanced Search. 

 

  • Using the 'Subject Terms' facet or category will narrow down to results with those words only in that particular heading
  • Put an 'OR' search limiter in between your subject search to combine both theses and dissertations
  • Content from many open access repositories available to search here
  • If you see the link to 'submit document supply purchase request' in an record it means that we don't have access to the full text in ATU but it is possible to obtain a copy from one of our partner libraries.

Online Theses undergraduate

Undergraduate past theses, if available in the Library may be accessed here. This listing is only be available to ATU staff and students and may be accessed using your institutional login and password. Please note the copyright restrictions associated with viewing files on this service.

Print Theses

Mayo campus theses are held on the library ground floor.

 They are Desk Reserve items to be viewed in the library only for up to three hours.  Click here for a list of Applied Social Care/Studies theses.

Non-ATU theses may be requested through Document Supply. Please note their availability will depend on the policies of the holding library and not ATU.

Online Theses masters and above

 

Masters and above theses submitted at ATU are available on the open access repository Research@THEA, subject to authors' permission. Please see our separate Libguide on Research@THEA for further information on this.

Theses on open access

Further to the Research@THEA repository for all of ATU published research and higher theses, alongside that of the other Technological Universities and IOTs, there are many open access repositories out there containing much of interest for Business students.

  • Use the BASE search engine (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine) to find material by author, title, subject heading or publisher. You can also use BASE to find material type theses (amongst others)
     
  • Open Access theses and dissertations OATD.org aims to be the best possible resource for finding open access graduate theses and dissertations published around the world. Metadata (information about the theses) comes from over 1000 colleges, universities, and research institutions. OATD currently indexes over 5 million theses and dissertations
     
  • DART-Europe is a partnership of research libraries and library consortia who are working together to improve global access to European research theses. The DART-Europe partners help to provide researchers with a single European Portal for the discovery of Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs)
     
  • Ebsco's Open Dissertations search service is helping drive new traffic to participating institutional repositories and connecting people with valuable Open Access research from leading institutions around the world. 
     
  • Search from over 500,000 doctoral theses from the British Library's database of UK university research. 
     
  • Search from the Open Access deposits from the reknowned Proquest Disserations and Theses database
