Use the Search + Find tool on the library homepage to find resources on your topic. In this search example on ‘CAD and engineering', we now have all the eBooks on the topic, because the results have been limited to eBooks under 'Source Type'.
Click into the Title of the book you are interested in on your results page.
N.B. Use the Zotero icon on the descriptive page of the book to get the metadata.
If you open the ‘PDF Full Text’ or ‘Full Download’, and then press the Zotero icon, it will save as a webpage and will be missing the necessary metadata for a full bibliographic reference.
When you click on the Zotero page icon, in the top right hand corner, it will ask which Zotero folder you want to save it in. Notice how the little icon has changed to a blue book.
A useful tip when saving eBooks on Zotero – if you are using a chapter from an eBook, and the author is different from the overall editor of the eBook, you can add a Note to the Zotero metadata.
Zotero will only save the author of the entire eBook, not individual chapters.
Adding a Note to a Zotero record
The metadata for your items in Zotero is on the right hand side of the page. Click on the Notes tab.
Add whatever information you want in the note, by pressing the ‘Add’ button. Here we are adding the author of an individual chapter.
Your notes are now attached to the book record.
