Zotero

This guide shows how to use Zotero, a reference management tool.

Step 1. Open the library catalogue (OPAC)

Click on the 'Catalogue Search' button on the library homepage.

Step 2. Search for books on your topic

Library OPAC
Enter the title/author/subject into the Search bar at the top of the page and press the green search icon to run the search.

Step 3. Open the record of the book

From the results, click into the title of the book you are interested in.

Step 4. Save into a Zotero folder

When you are in the catalogue record for the book, the icon beside the Zotero icon looks like a blue book.

Click on the blue book icon and Zotero will ask you what folder you want to save it in. Although an error message has appeared in the example below, it has save in Zotero as a book item type with the corresponding metadata

Print books on Search + Find

Another way to find out what print books are in the ATU Library collection, is to use the Search + Find tool on the library homepage.

Press the 'All filters' button on your results page and select 'Print Books Only' and Apply.

Zotero works best if you go into the catalogue record of the print book and then press the book icon. To open the catalogue record go to 'Access Options' and Retrieve Catalogue Item

Once in the catalogue record click the little blue book to save the metadata into Zotero.

You can also use Zotero on the initial results page when you click into the title of the book, but some of the metadata might go missing, always double check when you save it into Zotero.
