Terms and Conditions of Use
eResources are subject to copyright law just like printed materials and their use is also governed by the license agreements that ATU Library sign with publishers when arranging electronic access. These agreements set out how the e-resources may be used and who may use them.
You are responsible for ensuring that you use e-resources in accordance with these requirements. Please remember that your ATU Library username and password is for your use only and must never be disclosed to others.
The details of the licensing agreements vary for each resource, but include the following:
- eResources are licensed to ATU for the use of current registered ATU staff and students and, only where provided for and defined by an individual license, other authorised users.
- eResources may be used for the purposes of ATU teaching, learning, research and administration only.
They may NOT be used for commercial gain or for work undertaken by a student for the benefit of her/his employer. This includes the employer of a student on work placement as part of a ATU course. - Any copyright statement, proprietary marking, or protection measure included on any copy, or copies, derived from an eResource must not be removed or interfered with.
- Any copy, or copies, derived from an e-resource must be made within the terms of the license. This will normally exclude the copying of the whole or substantial part of a database, journal issue or other publication.
- Licenses vary considerably as to whether distribution of smaller amounts of material in the form of print copies for classes, inclusion of local copies in Moodle, or other further distribution is allowed and this should not be done without seeking further information.
- Many resources have more detailed terms and conditions of use; please see individual product sites for more information or contact the library.
