EndNote Online inserts references automatically into an 'Unfiled' group. However, if you have a lot of references for different topics or you want to share groups of references with other students or staff, then EndNote Online has the facility to create groups of references.
Create a new group
Adding References to a Group
When you click on 'All my references' in EndNote Online, you will see an 'Add to Group' option just above your list of references.
Click on ‘Organize’ and ‘Find Duplicates’
Your references are compared by the Author, Year, Title and Reference Field types and references identified as duplicates will be ticked.
Click the ‘Delete’ button to remove duplicates.
You can add attachments (e.g. PDFs) to references in your EndNote Online Library.
To Add Attachments:
Click ‘My References’ to display all of your references
Click on the title of the reference to which you want to add the attachment
Click ‘Attach files’ in the record for the reference to open the File Attachments window
Choose the file you want to upload and Open
Click 'Upload' and the file will be attached to your record
EndNote Online allows you to create a bibliography or reference list in a specific referencing style so that you can email, print or save it. You may need to submit this to your supervisor at interim stages during your thesis writing.
In EndNote Online, select 'Format' and click Bibliography
Select a group or 'Unfiled' from the References drop-down menu
Select the style you require from the Bibliographic Style drop-down menu (e.g. ATU Harvard)
Choose a file format (e.g. RTF for using in MS Word)
Click Save, E-mail or Preview & Print.
